Cycling

Teaching Cycling is the latest sport in my portfolio since I was teaching & coaching hundreds of kids/adults how to Stand Up Paddle in the past 11 years and also windsurfing (less, due to high barriers of entry, lack of club facilities & transportation of equipment). Read my Home page profile to know more about my sports background. It also started with my Road biking & triathlon days from University till 30s. I road biked lots and raced as well for a period of time. After I had my 2 kids, naturally, I taught them how to ride bikes at 4 years old. We want to have lots of fun even at a young age, right??? Then I was introduced to Mountain Biking at the grand old age of 41. I was addicted to ride on trails, rock gardens and since then, I ride twice weekly at Bukit Timah and Chestnut MTB Trails. Riding a Mountain bike totally changed my perspective about cycling as it sort of completed my whole perspective. It's no longer just on parks, roads, racing and riding fast/strong. It's also tons of technical knowledge of braking, bike handling, body posture, understanding terrains and how to tackle them, SAFELY and PROGRESSIVELY. Since then, I also taught my then, 8yo son to Mountain Bike and he's enjoying Chestnut MTB Trails as well as the Pump Track. My passion for teaching and coaching naturally stretched to biking as I noticed many kids cannot ride a 2 wheeled bicycle. Many can but also, many cannot!! Friends asked me how to teach and while I try my best to impart, most don't have a coach's keenness for details, breaking down a sport into structures/levels and in progressive levels. Through many experiences as well as my many years of coaching in SUP/Windsurfing, I have developed a Sure can ride within 1 lesson method.

Cycling is not just sport today, it's also a green form of transport that burns your calories as well as a wonderful way to explore your world. Unlock one of those shared bikes and you're also ready to ride. Enrol on a bike sight-seeing trip to see the rarely seen sights and go up close to the locals. Go Mountain-Biking for the adrenaline junkies. It all...begins on riding a 2 wheeled Bicycle!

For the kids, what's a childhood without a bike? Exploring the neighbourhood on your bike all day and zipping around as if that's your car (because we're too young to drive). A bike is our Ferrari in some cases. Many parents today are too busy, too tired or too bothered with important issues to teach their kids how to ride a bike. If that's you, we can help you. Even if it's you, the adult, don't be shy to let us know, we will get you riding within a couple of lessons and nobody has to know that you never knew how to ride. If you're ready to ride, I can guarantee success within 1 or 2 lessons. Most kids with good coordination and WANTS to ride will be riding within 1 hour. The desire to want to ride is important so do ask your child if he/she is ready and wants to ride. It will take longer for those who have fears, insecurities or not so physically adept. Kids 5 years old and onwards who are ready to ride can learn from Aunty Rachel. Haha.
