I will be coaching via Vertix helmet walkie talkie giving immediate real-time instructions. I'm a certified Wingfoiling Coach by Singapore Sailing Federation (NROC). Wing Foiling uses a hand-held Wing and a foilboard with foils (which are sharp and can injure) and foiling is the toughest to learn among all windsports simply because one needs to get the foil flying almost 1m ABOVE sea-water. You will learn these in my Wingfoiling classses: 1) How to rig up the Wing & foils on the foilboard. Understand Wind concepts and equipment/ocean safety. Using land simulators, students learn the stance and concept of foiling. 2) Fly and walk the Wing on the beach and learn how to "tension' the wing in various angles & how to switch hands/sides. 3) Fly the Wing on the Big Foilboard and learn how to stand up from kneeling position. This standing up on a big Foilboard is harder than one thinks. Learn how to fly the wing and stand up whilst balancing on the waves, without messing up your wing and board. Learn to sail across the wind and simultaneously adjust your wing such that it's always tensioned with wind. You will fall quite a bit but once you get thru' this, the rest is managable. I will be talking to you and near you at all times to give instruction via walkie talkie or tow you back (if you drift). You will be safe. 4) Fly the wing on Big Foilboard and sail across the wind progressively over a distance and then gybe (turn the board) and sail in the other direction. You have to be very comfortable doing this. Initially, you would drift downwind because of the wind and current. Land on the beach downwind and walk back and keep doing until you can come back to shore at the same spot. You have to be comfortable sailing to where you want to go and return to the same spot. 5) Once you understand how to fly the wing in the power zone to propel the Big Foilboard, you will be going to try for your "first flight". Applying the same wing flying techniques to the foilboard, you will be learning how to "pump" the wing and board to go on your first flights, beginning with short 1-5 seconds flight and at a safe & comfortable height. Once you have your first flight, you'll be addicted to fly! 6) Foiling can be dangerous and frightening so it's important to start off with strong fundamentals, flying safely and confidently. You will learn how to control foil pitch, maintaining flight and touchdown in a safe manner, minimising crashes and falls which already are inevitable in this extreme sport. Water time is crucial for muscle memory as movements are extremely fast in wingfoiling so do give yourself plenty of time to learn this beautiful sport. 7) During no wind season especially, I teach students how to foil in the Singapore Wake Park (SWP). I'll provide board+foil and helmet walkie talkie and talk you through every step. Learn the foiling part in the SWP and combine wing control in the sea. It's useful to break down the skillsets if one is weaker in one area. 8) Once you've decided you're determined to wingfoil, you should buy your own set of wing and foilboard + foils from us (check out www.windkitesurfsup.com) or source for used gear. You're now ready to learn how to wingfoil using the techniques you've learnt. Alot of it is on feel as well and pumping the foils to create lift. We need minimum 10 kts of wind to learn to wingfoil and 6-7kts to fly a wing (for the first few classes it's ok). Beginners need more wind to 'help' them to foil as pumping the foils effectively need technique. A big wing, big foils and more wind will create the most successful chance to foil for a beginner. The stronger the wind (12-15kts is most ideal) the 'easier' to foil but make sure your wing control is already decent and you're not constantly falling off the board. This video is a summary of the techniques you will be taught during the classes which you'll be doing and soon you'll be experiencing your first flight. This could be you! www.youtube.com/shorts/wPu4RpyShF0 Wing Foiling, like windsurfing, is not the easiest sport to learn and all it takes is determination and a decision to want to foil. You need to invest the water-time, keep trying, fall, get up and try again. Bruises and drifting downwind is what everyone of us went through trying to learn foiling. Once you get it, it's the most amazing feeling of flying your magic carpet on the sea. It's definitely not an easy sport like running and cycling, otherwise you'll be seeing thousands of people foiling. It's been about 3-4 years since we first started wingfoiling in Singapore and there are only about 50 wingfoilers in Singapore. Please read this FAQ before you come for your first class |

There is no age or gender limit tho we must accept that Wingfoiling is considered an 'extreme sport' as foiling typically, is.
